FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Jan 17, 2022 – Riphean Investments’ Founder and Partner Joel Griffin was interviewed on the Leader 2 Leader Podcast Series on January 15, 2022. The podcast is hosted by Susan Spears, President of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce.
The podcast series features community leaders in the Fredericksburg region who are creating a lasting positive impact. The discussion between Spears and Griffin centered around the topic of leadership. Griffin provided insights on the role of leaders, how leadership styles evolve and the qualities that make someone a great leader.
“Leadership is about putting others first. Some of the most successful leaders I know are also the best followers,” said Griffin. In the interview he recounted his experiences in the U.S. Marine Corps, as an entrepreneur, and as the founder of Riphean Group and the non-profit Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation.
When asked to give advice to new leaders just starting out, Griffin stated, “You have to be able to look yourself in the mirror and say ‘I am willing to do anything I ask my team to do’. Leadership is not about being in charge. There are plenty of people in charge who are not good leaders. Leadership is about getting people to rally around an idea and use their talents, skills and knowledge to achieve a collective goal.”
